The routine

Do you always get it wrong at beer pong and are you very insecure about it?

Some of our team are also familiar with the problem, which is why we asked the best of the best for a few tips. Beer Pong World Champion Elias Ulrich passes on his wisdom to you.

career of the world champion

Elias is Swiss and only started playing beer pong in 2017.
After his 5th tournament he already won his first tournament.
In 2019 he won the European Series of Beer Pong, followed by first place in doubles in the DSOBP (Dutch Series of Beer Pong).
He also competed in the 2019 World Series of Beer Pong in Las Vegas. This event attracted over 1000 players with a prize pool of over $35.000. Elias won this individual tournament and has been able to call himself Beer Pong World Champion ever since.

He achieved further victories in singles and doubles in Switzerland and other tournaments.

The throwing bows

A trained Beer Pong eye can recognize differences in the arc of the throws.

An arc shot is a throw with a larger arc, while a fastball has a shallower arc. A bouncer, on the other hand, is a throw where the ball bounces on the table in an attempt to hit a cup.
Of course there are a number of throwing techniques. However, it is also crucial for a good throw with how many and with which fingers the ball is held.
Many players bend their knees before throwing and bounce their balls, just like basketball players. Perhaps this is a method that will help you meet.

According to the world champion, one thing is particularly important: keep calm.

You should try around until you have found the right throwing technique for you. And then just get started. Don't waste too much thought on the risks, just play. Some players also create little rituals to help them come down. For example, try a few throwing movements or breathe in and out deeply a few times.

Elias throws in a slight arc from above. He uses 2 fingers (index finger and thumb). Maybe this is the best technique for you too! How far you lean forward can also make a crucial difference. In professional beer pong, the game is played without elbows, so you can bend forward a bit like Elias. His throwing technique is explained in detail in the following video.

The routine does it: Once you get used to your throw, you'll be able to judge your trajectory much better and know how to adjust it.

In summary it can be said:
Decide on a throwing technique and ball position. It is important that the sequence of movements is always the same so that you get routine. Once you have these, don't think about the throw, just throw. This will surely make you a better player. Of course it is also important to always have the same beer pong cups. If you are looking for cups with the official dimensions of the World Series of Beer Pong, then you will find them here.
